All of us dream of clean sea and beach, but many of us consider it unrealistic. We don’t realize that polluted sea and coast are our common problems and unfortunately, frequently we do not do anything to change the situation.
We worry about OUR SEA. That’s why…
Caucasus Environmental NGO Network (CENN) with financial support of BSERP/GEF/UNDP – is implementing the project: Public Awareness Raising and Promotion of Public Involvement in Black Sea Management Process in Adjara Region.
The objective of the project is to support and stimulate involvement of youth in environment decision making process; raising of civil and environmental awareness of public; increase of effectiveness of problems solution measures.
Aiming at that, we have created Adjarian Youth Environmental Network (AYEN). Network unites active and motivated students who are ready to implement concrete activities to protect Black Sea.
The Network has started with identification and study of Black Sea problems. AYEN students were given special training on the Black Sea problems. They have also initiated a public awareness raising campaign. The students strongly cooperate with local environmental organizations, local �institutes and schools. They regularly conduct lessons at schools and together with� school children carry out cleaning campaigns of coastal area.
AYEN web-site has been launched – http://ayen.cenn.ge– and there you can find out detailed information on network activities and concrete �problems of the Black Sea. At the same time, the web site is the best way for the youth interested in “green problems” to communicate with each-other – within the framework of the site the �youth forum has been developed. This forum gives the possibility to communicate not only with coevals in Georgia but also beyond it.
In the mid of February, 2007 the first Green Café was held. On this informal meeting� AYEN web-site and PSA dedicated to the problems of the Black Sea were presented. People who worry about the fate of the Black Sea were given the possibility to discuss its problems in an unofficial and friendly environment. The information on the next meeting (exact time & date) will be disseminated via CENN network and also disposed on AYEN web page. So,� watch closely… don’t �miss this chance!!!
