Marti, 7 septembrie, Asociatia “Salvati Dunarea si Delta – Academia Catavencu” organizeaza o actiune de salubrizare pe o portiune a bratului Sf. Gheorghe din zona localitatii Murighiol. Operatiunea “Cu bratele curate” isi propune sa traga un semnal de alarma fata de pericolul pe care gunoaiele lasate de turisti il reprezinta pentru Delta Dunarii.

Alaturi de voluntarii coordonati de Administratia Rezervatiei Biosferei Delta Dunarii, vor participa la actiunea de curatenie d-na Speranta Maria IANCULESCU, Ministrul Mediului si Gospodaririi Apelor si d-nele Cristiana COPOS, Dana DEAC, Mihaela GEOANA, Mona MUSCA si Daciana SIRBU. ecologists from the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology in Lancaster will report that fruit from certain hedgerow species can remain an important food source for birds until Christmas if hedges remain unmanaged, and that agri-environment schemes may have more of an impact on how farmers manage their hedges than whether they farm organically or conventionally.

The results are based on a study of 10 pairs of organic and conventional cereal farms in Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire, where the number of hedgerow species and numbers of berries in hedges were assessed. The Vienna-based South East Europe Media Organisation (SEEMO), a network of editors, media executives and leading journalists from South East Europe, and an affiliate of the International Press Institute (IPI), is deeply concerned over the attack on Alina Anghel, an investigative journalist for the weekly newspaper Timpul.                                                          According to information before SEEMO, on 23 June, Anghel was attacked by two unknown persons on the block where she lives in Chisinau. The attackers beat her with a crowbar and disappeared before the arrival of the police. She was taken to hospital, where she was diagnosed with a brain injury and a fractured left arm.
