The project will build on the recommendations elaborated during the Moving Borders seminar which was part of ECF Enlargement of Minds programme, held in Villa Decius in Krakow in October 2003.
The aim of the 12-day project (12-23 September 2004, Villa Decius, Krakow) is to create a new model of artistic cooperation between the New Europe and the “Beyond Borders Europe” (Belarus, Moldova, Romania, Russia and Ukraine). The establishment of new European borders led to many social issues and problems which remained unknown until then. Isolation, feeling of rejection, lack of communication, anger and helplessness are the feelings which accompany everyday life of those “Beyond Borders”. The laboratory will invite artists to participate in a process of collective creation, based on an interpretation of the word “Outsider” in the philosophical, political, social, anthropological and cultural context. For the artistic facilitation, Villa Decius teamed up with former ECF grantee Daniel Banaczek of art collective Biogrupa, who just completed a large-scale community art project in Krakow’s deprived Nowa Huta district.
Deadline for applications is 30 June. Read more in the attached call for proposals and application form.
