American Ecology Announces Appointment of New Vice President and Controller

American Ecology Corporation (NASDAQ: ECOL) today announced the appointment of Eric L. Gerratt, CPA, as Vice President and Controller.

Gerratt, 36, joins American Ecology from SUPERVALU, Inc. where he most recently served as Vice President of Accounting. Carbon Emissions Would Drop with New Technology

ONAWANDA, NY (2007-07-31) Carbon emissions at coal-fired power plants would be markedly reduced under new technology unveiled Tuesday at Praxair in Tonawanda.

Praxair is working with three other companies and the University at Buffalo in developing technology that will capture carbon dioxide during the power-generating process and permanently store it underground. Gasoline leak from filling station in Poulsbo investigated

An undetermined amount of gasoline leaked into the soil from a filling station that is now closed, and state Ecology Department experts believe it may take a month to develop a cleanup plan.

The investigation and cleanup began last month with complaints of a gasoline odor that was traced to a leaky tank at the Poulsbo Junction Grocery. It is one of the worst pollution cases involving a filling station in the Puget Sound region in recent memory, agency spokesman Larry Altose said Tuesday.
